Platinum Games Award
We are very proud to have achieved the School Games Platinum Award for sport participation and achievement in sport. The school has consistently been awarded this since 2018.
In the 2023/24 academic year, the children entered a marvellous 35 inter school competitions. In addition to this, the school competed at a regional level three times. Some examples of these events are below.
Plymouth Football Champions
The Elburton football team are currently Plymouth champions. After successfully achieving this, they were asked to represent Plymouth Argyle at the South of England finals at Southampton Football Club. The team also represented Plymouth in the South West finals finishing runners up. A video of the children's day at Southampton is below:
Young Voices
Our Year 5/6 choir had a FANTASTIC evening at the Young Voices choir, consisting of 5300 children. They performed at the Resorts World Arena; previously having the likes of Beyoncé, Tom Jones and Prince perform there! The children sang Pop, Rock and 90s Classics.
Year 5 Residential
Each year our Year 5 children visit Barton Hall in Torbay for their residential trip. Spending a week away from home, trying new activities and sports is always a huge adventure for our children.
STEM Club
An absolutely incredible day at Perranporth airfield with our STEM club. After spending 5 months working alongside Mr Brightman, Miss Alford, Miss Vincent and engineers from Becton Dickinson, the school entered the Green Power motor racing event. Competing against 26 schools from across the region, the school finished first place in the drag race event and first place overall!!!! Absolutely stunning performance from everyone involved.
Brickfields Area Athletics
Well done to the children who attended the Brickfields Athletics Finals! They competed brilliantly, with individual and team successes. Great performance today - well done Team EPS!
Mount Batten Water Sports Days
Our Year 4 and Year 6 children have visit Mount Batten each year. They challenge themselves to new activities both on and off of the water (weather permitting!)
Half Marathon Challenge
Well done to all of our 100 children who completed their half marathon challenge on the Hoe; what a fantastic event it was! Thanks, as always, go to the Plymouth School Sports Partnership team for organising such a brilliant event for our children and to our super staff and parent helpers for ensuring our children were kept organised and safe throughout.
Cross Country Running
Congratulations to the children who represented the school in the cross country finals at Staddiscombe.
Indoor Rowing Competition
Well done to the team who represented Elburton in the Indoor Rowing Championships. They were brilliant - finishing in 2nd place in the ‘Major Schools Indoor Rowing Team Race’
Change 4 Life
Our KS2 children had the opportunity to attend the Change4Life Festival at Marjons. This involved climbing, smoothie making and other fun activities. They had the opportunity to meet a professional surfer too! Well done everyone.
Girls Football Team
Well done to our Year 5 and 6 Girls football team who represented Elburton at the School Games U11 Football tournament. They played with fantastic determination and resilience throughout.
Nutley Lodge Care Home
Every week, two generations of our community come together. Each week, groups of Reception children visit Nutley Lodge Care Home to share stories, songs and to make memories.
Basketball Tournament
Children represented Elburton at the Primary Basketball Tournament. They finished in 3rd place! Well done everyone.
Elburton School Troopers
Our Military Kids Club meet each week. In addition to this, they have various trips which recently have included visiting the theatre, laser quest and Clip n Climb. For Remembrance Day, these children came together, dressed in their parents service headwear to perform an assembly for the school.
Community Events
School Council joined the Elburton community, alongside Councillor David Salmon and local volunteers. It was all hands on deck, as they weeded, planted bulbs and assisted in tiding the flower beds.
Cycling Competition
Our KS2 children attended the PSSP Cyclo-Cross events. The day was full of racing and fun challenges!
